Radio tonight

Posted in Girl's Basketball, Hockey, Posted by Bob | No Comments »

We have a couple games tonight with local interest. First, on 100.9 WCMP at 7:30 the Pirate Girls take on the Rush City Tigers in a border battle meanwhile on 105.7 WXCX we'll be covering the boys Blizzard taking on Pine City at 7pm.

I'm working the girls game while the wayward son, Dan Hinrichs, comes back and does the hockey game. (EDIT 4:30pm – Dan and I are switching games to make life a little easier with equipment and proximity issues)

The Blizz are coming off a nice conference win against Minneapolis East West (yes, that's a conference game). While the Pirate girls look to rebound from a 67-52 loss against Frederic on Friday.

Welcome to “We are Grantsburg”

Posted in General, Posted by Bob, Radio | No Comments »

My name is Bob Rombach and I am the creator of We are Grantsburg. My vision with this blog and the subsequent things that happen on this website is to bring our community closer together and to celebrate the town we call home.

I plan on posting thoughts about our community and athletics on a fairly regular basis. I would love your feedback and discussion. By the way, this blog is “G” rated.

I anticipate most of my blogs will revolve around sports as that is something I follow pretty regularly, but I’ll probably stray from that path fairly often, especially now that there are a couple months until the football/volleyball/cross country season begins. I will try to be very thoughtful as I post and would hope all conversation here would be polite, even in disagreement.

A little bit about me… I have been doing radio broadcasts of area games for the past three years. I started out with my friend, Dan Hinrichs on WCMP by doing color commentary for football games. I liked it and never really thought I would do much more than that. Well, Dan moved away and I was able to fill his position at the radio station as the main play-by-play guy. So when you hear a game on the radio (usually 105.7, WXCX) it is probably me. I really enjoy what I do and hope that you get something from the broadcast we provide.

I am also the youth director at First Baptist Church of Falun, which is something I am passionate about. Along with that I also run Refuel Ministries which puts on those things outside at the Espresso Cabin and puts on the Ignite Concert in August (really exciting stuff happening this year. Go to www.igniteconcert.com for more on that).

I have a daughter, 5, who just learned to ride her bike without training wheels and a son, 2, who just learned how to throw balls at a moving target, specifically five year old girls who recently learned to ride bike.

I’m glad you made it to this site. I hope you visit often and sign up and share your thoughts with the community.
