The Grantsburg boys will not get a home game to start the tournament. They will instead be heading to St. Croix Falls whom they've faced twice this season and have split those two games. It should be a great matchup. Webster will host an opening game as they secured a #3 seed. Division 3 BRACKET
The Siren Dragons got a #4 seed in D4 and will host an opening round game. They'll take on Northwood. Division 4 BRACKET
It's a great time of the year!
I'm not sure how our broadcasting schedule will work out, but as soon as I find out I will let you know!

If you're interested my most recent column has been uploaded to the Burnett County Sentinel's website. It's about my wife and me going to state volleyball… alone.

We’re sitting tight on the all-conference selections because I don’t have the entire list (volleyball or football).
What I do have is the WSN all-tournament volleyball team*, which differs a little from the WVCA’s team which you can read about in this previous post.
The WSN all-tournament team* has three Grantsburgians…
Kortney Morrin, Annie Palmquist and Emily Cole represented the Pirates. Congratulations on another accomplishment!
RANT ALERT… RANT ALERT…
I just don’t know how some of our girls could get left off that team. With the absolute domination of the tournament four, five or even six of the Pirates could’ve made the team. Only three? Please.
It’s pretty clear that for the WSN team they were allotting three places for the champ, two for the runner up and one each for the two semi-final losers. To me that makes this pre-formulated all-tournament team* a little less special than the WVCA one where it was truly the best team they could think of. Although, I still think Grantsburg could beat the best players from the other three state teams combined (Washburn could too!)
* indicates a “we don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings so each team gets to be represented on this team even though two of them would have lost to the champion’s JV team” made up team.

The Pirates placed four girls on the WVCA all-state-tournament team. They are Kortney Morrin, Annie Palmquist, Lauren Romanowski, and Emily Cole.
Way to go girls!

Grantsburg’s volleyball championship has spawned many an article around the Badger state.
Telegraph Herald – Dubuque… loved the “symphony of domination” line.
“They hit it so hard you couldn’t even see it before it came past you.” That line came from a story from Madison.com.
Madison.com had a CoverItLive blog here… some interesting comments and worth the read.
Here’s Preps on the Net’s take on the championship game.
The Sentinel put this recap up… and it’s free!
I know there are more stories out there… I saw a great headline and article earlier today courtesy of Greg and Kathy Palmquist, but I can’t remember which newspaper it was in. If anyone finds any other stories about the Pirates volleyball team, please let me know and I’ll put it up here.
Great job, Pirates!
