The bats were working tonight against the Braham Bombers. The Pirates struck for four in the fourth, added another in the fifth and three more in the sixth as they dispatched the Bombers 8-1.

Trevor Thompson was the starter and pitched 7 innings and gave up two hits with five strikeouts. Grantsburg batters had 11 hits and one strikeout.

That puts Grantsburg at 16-0 and on the verge of an undefeated season, however they still haven't won the conference outright. The worst they can do is tie with Unity with 7-1 records if Unity beats Grantsburg next week in the regular season finale.

The highlight of the game for me was Gavin Meyer's suicide squeeze with runners on second and third with one out. Gavin put down a great bunt on a tough pitch and with the runners going on the pitch both of them were able to score as Gavin was gunned down at first.

If the Pirates can play like that, there's no telling how far they can go in the tournament which starts next week.
