Keith Lehne

As Grantsburg makes their way back to the postseason for the first time since 2006 I think it would be appropriate to give kudos to Pirate head coach, Keith Lehne.

The past few years have been a very difficult time in the history of the Pirate football program and I know that there were some people who were openly calling for coach Lehne to step down and some were pressuring the administration to relieve him of his duties.

I for one am extremely glad that neither he nor the administration bowed to that pressure.

When he took over as head football coach in 1998 he brought the team to the playoffs nine years in a row. He had a cumulative regular season record of 58-23. This is his tenth trip to the playoffs in his 13 years of coaching. Obviously the guy knows how to coach.

So congratulations, Mr. Lehne. Your example during the difficult times is one that I hope all the players, parents and fans took notice of.
