I did not witness the game on Friday night because I was at the Kalahari Hotel in Wisconsin Dells this weekend with the fam, but it sounds like it was the Matt O'Connell show again.

The senior QB has been lights out this year and on Friday night he and his team became the champions of the Large Lakeland Conference by beating the Pirates 50-14.

For the Pirates (4-4, 3-2), the playoffs start this week. It is a must win for them as they don't want to leave it up to some board somewhere to decide if they are one of a handful of .500 conference record teams to make the D5 tournament bracket.

It will be a good game Friday night as the Flambeau Falcons (5-3, 3-2) come to Grantsburg. Flambeau would like to get that fourth conference win, as well, though they are much more likely to be an at-large participant if they lose as they've secured a winning overall record.

The game will air on 105.7 WXCX on Thursday at 7pm.
