Wissports’ D3 power rankings

Jay Messar at wissports.net has the pulse of volleyball in Wisconsin. He has his top 10 hottest teams to watch in D3 (maybe the strongest division with FOUR unbeaten teams).

Grantsburg, the reigning D3 state champs are ranked #1 while perennial Sectional opponent, Washburn, is ranked 8th. Undefeated Eau Claire Regis is also in the top 10.

Eau Claire Regis: Second-year head coach Jimmy Burg knew he inherited something special last season. This year his ideas have come to fruition as the Ramblers are another northwestern Wisconsin squad to still boast an unblemished record. At 18-0, Regis has already knocked off D4 champ and Cloverbelt foe McDonell Central twice, as well as D2 honorable mention Altoona in a five-set thriller….

Washburn: Washburn remains that team on the shores of Chequamegon Bay who always seems to put out quite a product on the volleyball court. The Castleguards took second to Grantsburg at the Ashland tournament this month and won the Silver bracket of the Menomonie Sprawl back in August….
