Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted in Boy's Basketball, General, Girl's Basketball, Hockey, Hunting, Posted by Bob | No Comments »

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Is anyone else rooting for the Lions… to lose every game? I am and I kinda feel guilty about it, but going winless in the NFL is really tough to do! So good luck to them.

Well… I’m off to Chicago for a few days to spend T-day with Renae’s (my beautiful wife) family. When I return I will have the radio schedule for boys and girls basketball as well as Blizzard hockey and I will post it here.

Send me those pictures of your deer and I’ll get them posted as well.

Gobble, gobble!

Calling all hunters…

Email me pictures of your prized kill and I’ll post it here on We Are Grantsburg. Make sure you include your name and the stats on the deer.

Tyler Larsen will get the ball rolling with this nice buck (legally an 8-pointer, with three broken tines so Tyler likes to call it an 11 pointer)

Happy Hunting

Posted in Hunting, Posted by Bob | 4 Comments »

It is that magical time of year again where men and women alike share in the wonder of the season. No not Thanksgiving or Christmas…. it’s hunting season! The season where blaze orange becomes fashionable and men have an excuse not to shave their faces.

Its an exciting time of year for many in this area… let’s just hope they are smarter then the fellows in this story:

Two hunters were dragging their dead deer back to their car. Another hunter approached pulling his along too.

"Hey, I don’t want to tell you how to do something … but I can tell you that it’s much easier if you drag the deer in the other direction. Then the antlers won’t dig into the ground."

After the third hunter left, the two decided to try it.

A little while later one hunter said to the other, "You know, that guy was right. This is a lot easier!"

"Yeah, but we’re getting farther from the truck," the other added.

Great article from the Sentinel

Byron Higgin has written a great piece on Kristina Anderson and her success as a volleyball coach in China. Read it here.

Sentinel names all-area team

Byron Higgin has named his choices for the volleyball all-area team. As you might imagine it is rightfully loaded with Pirates. I know first hand that Byron takes a lot of time and puts a lot of thought into these teams and I think he has done a good job with this one. Here is a link to the article.

Outside Hitter- Annie Palmquist (Grantsburg)
Hitter-All Around: Lauren Romanowski (Grantsburg)
Outside Hitter-Chrissy Chenal (Frederic)

I’d like to thank everyone who looks at this blog regularly. It is doing phenominally well, better than I ever though possible. Already this month wearegrantsburg.com has received over 10,000 hits! Thank you so much and be sure to bookmark us or subscribe to the RSS feed (you can find that link at the very bottom of this page).

There is a bit of time before sports start up again, so I’ll try to be focussing on more “newsy” comments that pertain to Grantsburg in the coming weeks.

I’ll also be posting some volleyball stuff this weekend so be sure to check back for videos and comments.

Morrin is All-State HM

Posted in All State, Athletes, Posted by Bob, Volleyball | No Comments »

Congratulations to Kortney Morrin who made the all-state honorable mention team which includes all volleyball players, regardless of division.

Had Grantsburg won the championship match I would suspect Kortney would’ve made at least second team, probably first team as well as a couple of her teammates joining her on the all-state selections.

She also made the all-state tournament team for division 3. (There were six positions available and four of them went to Wisconsin Heights players)
